Free Metro, The Time is Now! GNDC Webinar, Monday, January 31, 7:30 pm
Hear about DC Councilmember Charles Allen’s bill (B23-0698) to give a $100/month credit for DC residents on their metro cards, which, once passed, will be a major step toward free public transit in DC via Metro.
Panelists will discuss this bill, which will increase people’s ability to use Metro, especially those folks most in need. The panelists will examine any potential pitfalls as well as its positive impacts, namely that of reducing traffic congestion, air pollution, and carbon emissions, and of revitalizing our downtown even more. Plenty of time for questions and discussion.
Panelists include:
Chris Laskowski, Legislative Director for DC Councilmember Charles Allen, Ward 6
Basav Sen, Director, Climate Policy Project, Institute for Policy Studies
Keya Chatterjee, Executive Director of US Climate Action Network, and an ANC Commissioner in Ward 6 (Allen’s ward)
Fritz Edler, Transportation mode-shift activist and veteran railroader community alliance organizer
Dr. Annette Olson, Facilitator, Executive Director of Climate Steps and Lead, Green Neighbors DC
