GN Meeting on Monday, Feb. 13th, 7 PM.

The Green Neighbors meeting scheduled for Monday, Feb. 13, will start half an hour late, at 7:00.  We will meet from 7:00 to 8:00 pm at the Petworth Library, downstairs in the conference room.  We will be discussing Green Neighbors’ niche among other DC green-oriented groups, and what actions we want to start taking for 2017.

We are starting our meeting late to allow time for some of our members to attend the Home Rule rally at 5:00 that evening. (Unfortunately we couldn’t postpone our meeting to another date, so people will have to choose between attending our meeting or the Home Rule meeting following the rally.)
Here is the information about the rally, sent out by Councilmember Grosso:

Dear Residents,

As you know, the U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, under the leadership of Rep. Jason Chaffetz, has decided to meddle in D.C.’s local affairs more than ever before. The Committee will be voting to overturn an [assisted-suicide] law passed by the Council and signed by the Mayor on Monday at 5:30pm.

Join the rally on Monday, February 13 to tell Rep. Chaffetz and the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform to keep their #HandsOffDC as they vote to override the will of D.C. residents! Let us know you’re coming here.

We’ll gather at 5 p.m. at Lower D Park [Spirit of Justice Park on Google Maps] near South Capitol Street and C Street, SW, and then continue on to the #HandsOffDC organizing meeting at the Atlas Performing Arts Center at 1333 H Street NE at 6:30 p.m.

I look forward to seeing you there to stand up for the democratic rights of D.C. residents!

Sincerely,

David Grosso
At-Large Councilmember
Council of the District of Columbia
