Green Neighbors Co-Sponsors CCAN Polar Bear Plunge
On January 24th, members Green Neighbors will plunging into the freezing waters of the Potomac River at the National Harbor. Why? To help keep winter cold.
The Polar Bear Plunge is organized by the Chesapeake Climate Action Network (CCAN), the first grassroots, nonprofit organization dedicated exclusively to fighting global warming in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, D.C. The annual “Keep Winter Cold” Polar Bear Plunge is CCAN’s biggest fundraising event, powering victories to move our region off of fossil fuels and to clean energy. Each year, activists, friends, and families show their commitment to fighting climate change by jumping in the icy Potomac River.
Last year, enough donations made on behalf of Green Neighbors enabled CCAN to share those donations with our group, thus helping us fund some of our initiatives, brochures, and more.
So Happy 2015!
